Challenges
- A Global Security Packaging MNC was looking for a label or tape which once applied onto the packaging cannot be removed without leaving a trace or tamper evidence to help fight the menace of counterfeit products. Their customers were using innovative solutions like QR codes but the QR code needed to be printed onto a label which could not be tampered with or removed and reapplied onto another surface.
- There were some products in the market but they did not work well for low energy surfaces like plastic, polycarbonate and corrugated packaging.
- Current products in the market were not viable due to high cost and minimum order quantities.
- Current product offerings didn’t allow for much customisation as well as integration of QR code printing and holograms.
- Our customer wanted to provide an easy and cost effective solution to their end customers who could use the product on different surfaces across various shapes and sizes.
Solution
- Brite Coatings gave the perfect solution for this application, in the form of a printable destructive label.
- Once our self-adhesive film is applied, it cannot be removed in one piece and on removal, has fibre tears which cannot be reapplied.
- Using an aggressive & strong adhesive, the destructive label allows for a “stick and forget” application for all types of surfaces.
- The destructive label is available in a roll / sheet form to suit the customer’s requirement across printing and application services.
- The destructive label is printable and writeable towards custom branding, barcoding and inclusion of other security features.
Results
- Our customer found a one-size-fits-all product for their counterfeit label needs. Since our single product can be used for various applications and surfaces, it allows for easy inventory management.
- Our customer saw an increase in their sales and their volumes went up.
- Our product’s compatibility with low energy surfaces like plastics, polycarbonate and corrugated boxes allowed our customer to have a competitive edge over their competition at a lower cost.
- Our customer developed an entire series of Self-Adhesive Security Films with Brite Coatings such as VOID Labels and Multi-Layer Labels to further increase their portfolio and sales.
- We covered the cost of product development without any financial implication to the customer until the product-market fit was determined by the customer.
